Edmonton housing prices up in February

EDMONTON - Housing prices rose in all categories in February, according to MLS data released Friday by the Realtors Association of Edmonton.

 

Residential sales are also up.

 

“Interest rates continue to be wonderful and that’s certainly spurring a lot of first-time buyers,” said association president Doug Singleton.

 

“I also think there’s lots of good things people keep hearing about the economy in general in Edmonton and I think that’s got people a little bit more optimistic.”

 

The average price of a single-family home in Edmonton for February was $375,268, up 3.1 per cent from the previous month and 4.6 per cent from a year ago.

 

In the condominium market, the average price in February was $234,973, up 8.5 per cent from January, and 1.7 per cent year over year.

 

The average duplex and row house property sold for $306,491, up 1.4 per cent monthly and up 0.2 per cent from the same month last year.

 

Residential sales activity also improved to 1,231 transactions, up 39.7 per cent monthly and 6.6 per cent yearly.
